MBU Volleyball Eliminated from NAIA National Tournament by No. 5 Corban

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball was eliminated from the NAIA National Tournament by Corban University with a Pool Play sweep (22-25, 18-25, 22-25) on Friday afternoon. The Spartans end the season at 31-6 overall after claiming the Heart of America Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

MBU struggled against a tough Corban net presence, hitting just .037. The Warriors tallied 15 blocks in the contest against the Spartans' nine blocks. All-Time Kills Leader Gabi Jakubowska ended her legendary career with a match-high 17 kills (.135 percentage), six digs, and two blocks. Kassie Lee led the defense with eight blocks, followed by Madison Moore with three. Julia Reis Pereira additionally tallied 14 digs, and Valentina Navarro had 23 assists.

The Spartans hit .025 in set one with 10 kills on 40 attempts and nine errors, and followed up with a .056 percentage in set two.

 With their backs against the wall in set three, MBU rallied from behind and took a 14-13 lead after an ace from Navarro and a block by Fernanda Perini and Jakubowska. Trailing 17-18, Lee tallied consecutive block assists to put her team ahead 19-18.

 Corban restored its momentum with a kill from Kendra Bittle and another block on a Moore attempt. Lee and Navarro knotted the frame back up at 20 with another block, but the Warriors took five of the next seven points to complete the sweep.
