ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University STUNT team traveled to the University of Kentucky this weekend (Feb 1-Feb 2) to compete against four other fierce teams at the Bluegrass Classic, where they brought home two wins.
On Saturday (Feb 1), the Spartans faced (DI) Mercyhurst University and (DII) Ashland University. They fought hard against Ashland, but ultimately lost 11-14. MBU found great success against Mercyhurst, though.
Winning 18-8 against the Lakers, the Spartans shined in each of their routines. Eleven team members scored in the double digits.

CiCi Mallqui-Thomas led the team, each receiving a score of 13 and a rating of 30.
The next day (Feb 2), MBU squared up against (DI) Northern Kentucky University and (DII) Trevecca Nazarene University. Trevecca proved to be difficult competition, beating Missouri Baptist 6-21.
On the contrary, the Spartans took on the Vikings with ease, defeating them 12-0.
Katie Harper led MBU in scores and ratings, with a score of 9 and a rating of 16.
Sophia Welch and
CiCi Mallqui-Thomas were the next Spartan stat leaders, with each getting a score of 8 and a rating of 15.
Already .500 on the season, the second-ranked Missouri Baptist STUNT team is just getting started. They will compete again the weekend of Feb. 21 at the STUNT Opener, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene.
