DES MOINES, Iowa—Missouri Baptist men's wrestling won a dual match on Saturday at the Grand View Duals . The Spartans defeated conference opponent William Woods (Mo.) 40-6.
The first dual of the day pitted MBU against a familiar foe, (RV) St. Ambrose (Iowa). Unfortunately, unlike their first-season encounter, the Fighting Bees took this one 36-16.
Dillon Witt,
Joel Campbell, and
Amad Soufi each picked up a bonus-point victory to aid the 16 team points.
Several different Spartans competed in the line-up this weekend, as it was the last regular-season competition before the conference tournament.
The Spartans' sole team victory was the second dual of the day.
Dillon Witt and
Hunter Song captured a fall, while
Brandon Bollinger and
Noah Richardson collected technical falls to secure the 40-6 win over the Owls.
The final dual pitted the Spartans against host school No. 1 Grand View University. The Vikings are three-time returning national champions and have won 12 out of the last 13 national championships.
Tyler Deen won the 4-3 decision over the 141-pound representative for Grand View.
The Spartans will rest next weekend before traveling to Oklahoma City, Okla., to compete in the American Midwest Conference/ Sooner Athletic Conference national qualifying tournament and battle for a spot on the big stage.
