INDIANAPOLIS - Missouri Baptist University men's tennis secured a top 25 victory Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 25 Marian University 5-2 for its first ranked win of the season.
Men's Tennis
The Spartans (7-4) picked up their first road win of the year, improving to 1-0 away from home.
MBU fell behind early, dropping the doubles point despite a hard-fought 7-6(5) win from Luca da Silva Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns.
In singles play, the Spartans took control, winning five of six matches. Da Silva Ebenriter, Strahinja Radanovic, Junghanns, Lucas Kzam and Arkhip Tokmakov all secured victories to lift MBU to the upset.
Women's Tennis
The MBU women's tennis team also took the court Wednesday but fell 7-0 to No. 16 Marian, suffering its second consecutive sweep.
With the loss, the Spartans dropped to 6-4 on the season and have now lost four of their last five matches.
Up Next
Both teams return to action Thursday on the road against Indiana Wesleyan University. The men's team previously defeated IWU 7-0 earlier this season, while the women fell just short against the No. 23 Wildcats in a 4-3 match.
