ST. LOUIS - Following a stunning senior campaign, Sophia Horton was named to the All-AMC Third Team.
Horton did a handful of everything for the Spartans this season as she led the squad in points, assists, steals, and minutes. She averaged 12.7 points per game with 369 on the season, including Missouri Baptist's one postseason contest. The Park Hills, Mo. native, also racked up 147 rebounds throughout the season.
Against UHSP in December, she scored her season high 25 points, knocking down five triples and eight free throws. In different games against Crowley's Ridge, Horton had a season high nine rebounds and assists.
Riley Jansen was also named Missouri Baptist's AMC Champion of Character.
Horton was also placed on the AMC All-Academic Team along with Jansen, Morgan Kappenman, Mariana Cubero, Kayleigh Winch, Kacie Daigger, Jenna Plymale, Chardonnay Jones, Audrey Payne, Abigail Williams, Aliyah Williams, and Orian Anderson.
The Spartans wrapped up their season with a loss at the AMC tournament against Columbia at Williams Baptist.
