MBU Men's Tennis Earns At-Large Bid to NAIA National Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University men's tennis has earned an at-large bid to the 73rd Annual UTR Sports NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship, set to begin May 13 in Mobile, Ala.

It's been an emotional season, starting with Danijel's car accident and having some heartbreaking losses," said head coach Scott Goodyear. "But through it all, we've remained unified, believed in one another, and fought for each other. We are all very excited about this opportunity.

The championship features a seeded, 24-team, single-elimination, dual-match format.

The Spartans return to the national tournament for the first time since 2016 and just the second time in program history. MBU enters the event with a 16-7 overall record and an appearance in the Heart of America Conference Tournament Championship.

Missouri Baptist received the No. 22 seed and will take on No. 11 University of Northwestern Ohio (17-5), the WHAC Tournament champion. The first-round match is scheduled for May 13 at 1 p.m.

Admission to the event is free.
