Gabi Jakubowska of Missouri Baptist was voted the week one NAIA Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week. She played a pivotal role in leading the Spartans to three Top 20 wins in the team's opening week at the Spartan Invitational.
The right side amassed an impressive 95 kills, averaging 5.00 kills per set, and maintained a .276 hitting percentage on the week. The standout performances came during a series of intense matches that saw MBU face off against some of the nation's best teams.
On August 20, the Spartans triumphed over No. 16 Viterbo (Wis.) in a thrilling five-set match. With 29 kills and a 5.80 K/S ratio, Jakubowska was instrumental in the team's success, contributing significantly with a .328 hitting percentage.
Later that day, MBU continued its win streak by defeating No. 9 St. Thomas (Fla.) in another nail-biting five-set contest. Jakubowska contributed 26 kills with a 5.20 K/S and a .242 hitting percentage, alongside two assists and one service ace. She picked up a double-double with 19 digs to complement her 26 kills in the match.
Despite a setback against No. 20 Midland (Neb.) on August 22, where MBU suffered its first loss of the season, falling 3-1, Jakubowska still managed to shine with 19 kills and a .368 hitting percentage.
The highlight of the week came with a victory over No. 3 Corban (Ore.), where Jakubowska added 21 kills and five service aces to her tally in another five-set battle. With 4.20 kills per set and a .200 hitting percentage, she played a crucial role in overcoming a formidable opponent, further solidifying MBU's position as a competitive force.
Overall, Jakubowska's statistics across the four matches were nothing short of impressive: 95 kills, a 5.00 K/S, and a .276 hitting percentage, alongside 41 digs and 15 block assists (0.79 blocks per set).
