MBU Men Earn First-Ever Win Over UMSL; Women Fall in Season Opener

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University men's tennis made history Friday with a 6-1 victory over Missouri–St. Louis at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center, marking the Spartans' first-ever win over the Tritons.

MBU swept doubles play to take the opening point, highlighted by Luca da Silva Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns winning 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Omar Farahat and Strahinja Radanovic clinched No. 2 doubles 6-2, while Ruslan Anurev and Arkhip Tokmakov closed out No. 3 doubles 6-1.

The Spartans carried the momentum into singles, winning five of six courts. Da Silva Ebenriter rallied for a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles to set the tone. Radanovic (6-2, 6-4), Tokmakov (6-2, 6-2), Anurev (6-3, 6-2) and Farahat (7-6(3), 6-1) also secured straight-set victories to seal the milestone team win.

On the women's side, the Spartans fell 7-0 to the Tritons. MBU dropped all three doubles matches before UMSL swept singles play in straight sets. Yvonne Shannon forced a second-set push at No. 1 singles, falling 6-0, 6-1, while Jocelynn Carmody battled to a 6-3, 6-3 defeat at No. 3.

The men will return to action Saturday at Washington University in St. Louis for the Wash U Men's Tennis Invite beginning at 9 a.m. The women will host Truman State University at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at CBC Cadet Park.
