Valentina Navarro and
Fernanda Perini were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Setter and Defender of the Week on Monday, Sept. 22. Perini claimed her third Defender of the Week award of 2025, and Navarro won her second Setter of the Week honor.
The freshman setter won the weekly distinction after directing the Spartans' offense with efficiency. Navarro's distribution helped Missouri Baptist hit .262 as a team and post a 2-1 record in league action.
Perini anchored the Spartans at the net to claim Defender of the Week for a third time. The sophomore middle blocker registered 14 total blocks over 10 sets, averaging 1.40 per set, and added 22 kills on a .327 attack percentage. Her presence at the net limited opponents to a .190 hitting percentage.
Navarro, Perini, and the Spartans continue conference play on Thursday, Sept. 25, in a 7 p.m. matchup at Central Methodist University.
