ST. LOUIS – No. 11 Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball continues conference play with three contests this week. The Spartans travel to Culver-Stockton College on Sept. 9 and begin a three-game home stand with games against Clarke University on Friday, Sept. 12, and Mount Mercy University on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Missouri Baptist enters the week with a 9-2 record, including a 1-0 mark in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, after a four-set victory at Graceland in its league opener on Sept. 6.
Through 11 matches, Missouri Baptist has outperformed opponents in every major statistical category, including assists (12.2 to 9.5 per set), digs (13.4 to 12.7), and blocks (2.1 to 2.0).
The Spartans are averaging 13.1 kills per set while hitting .251 as a team and holding opponents to a .142 percentage. Senior outside hitter Gabi Jakubowska leads the attack with 165 kills, averaging 4.58 per set. Allana Capella has added 134 kills and a team-best 17 service aces.
Setter Valentina Navarro has paced the offense with 408 assists, averaging 10.46 per set, while libero Julia Reis Pereira leads the back row with 159 digs. At the net, Fernanda Perini has recorded 51 blocks, averaging 1.31 per set, to anchor the Spartans' defense.
Culver-Stockton enters Tuesday's matchup with a 4-5 record and has lost all six sets in conference play to the hands of William Penn University and Grand View University. They are averaging 10.07 kills per set and are hitting .166 as a team.
Clarke plays Emmaus University on Tuesday before Friday's contest at MBU and is 1-9 overall with a 10.94 K/S and a .119 hitting percentage.
Mount Mercy sits at 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Heart heading into Friday's matchup with William Woods University before the MBU game in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
