ST. LOUIS - Missouri Baptist University women's basketball dropped a 58-44 game to Central Methodist University on Wednesday evening at the Petty SRC.
Riley Jansen led the Spartans with 22 points and 11 rebounds, finishing an efficient night at the free-throw line while controlling the paint on both ends. Jansen recorded nine offensive rebounds and accounted for half of Missouri Baptist's scoring from the stripe.
The Spartans struggled to find an early rhythm, scoring just three points in the opening quarter as Central Methodist built an early advantage. Missouri Baptist responded in the second quarter, shooting 58.3% from the field and trimming the deficit to 31-21 at halftime. Central Methodist maintained control in the third quarter before pulling away late, capitalizing on turnovers and timely shooting to secure the road win. Missouri Baptist outrebounded Central Methodist 45-31, but was held to 31.3% shooting for the game.
Missouri Baptist returns to conference play later this week on Saturday when they travel to William Penn University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
