ST. LOUIS – An early deficit against Culver-Stockton College would be too much for MBU Women's Soccer to overcome, falling to the Wildcats, 4-0.
C-SC was active from the first whistle, demonstrated by the scoring of a goal in just the fifth minute of action.
Lillian Coleman attempted early to reconcile the Spartans' recent offensive struggles, putting a shot on goal just a few minutes later. Yet, it was the Wildcats whose next shot attempt would convert, scoring a second goal in the 14th minute.
Already feeling the weight of the two-score deficit, Missouri Baptist continued their improved attacking efforts, seeing shots from Gracie Black and Kate Jose. Yet, the Spartans would be shut out for a sixth straight game.
Culver-Stockton slowed down little, if not at all, tallying two more goals in the second period to reach the final result of 4-0.
Erin Davidson played for just over 66 minutes tonight, saving one shot. Jordyn Maryas filled in the remainder of the game, saving another shot herself.
"Another tough loss," said Head Coach Deno Merrick. "We had a lot of unforced errors, which, we kind of talked about before... If you keep shooting yourself in the foot, giving teams 2-0 leads, digging a deeper hole, it is kind of tough to get out. From here, there is only up, so we just have to get back to the drawing board and hopefully make things right this weekend."
Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer indeed will have another shot to recalibrate this Saturday, Oct. 17th in a conference matchup against Graceland University.
