COLUMBIA, Mo.-Missouri Baptist University delivered strong postseason performances from both its men's and women's bowling programs at the 2026 Heart Championships, highlighted by the women advancing to the championship round and the men finishing fourth overall.
The Missouri Baptist women posted a 3-2 record and reached the championship finals after winning three straight matches in the winner's bracket. The Spartans opened with a 2-0 victory over Culver-Stockton, then defeated William Penn 2-0 before upsetting top-seeded Mount Mercy 2-0 in the winner's bracket final to secure a berth in the championship round.
After trailing by 65 points in the after two baker games of four, the Spartans came within striking distance of the win. After securing a strike and eight pins in the final frame, Amber Lymenstull picked up the spare to win and send the Spartans into the "if necessary" game.
Mount Mercy responded in the decisive "if necessary" match, winning 4-1 to secure the championship and leave Missouri Baptist as tournament runner-up. The Spartans finished the event with four match victories, tied for the most in the field.
The Missouri Baptist men finished fourth overall after going 2-2 in the double-elimination bracket. The Spartans opened with a 2-0 sweep of Culver-Stockton before falling to eventual champion Mount Mercy in the winner's bracket semifinals.
Missouri Baptist responded in the consolation bracket with a 2-0 victory over Clarke to remain in contention but were eliminated by William Penn in a 2-1 match. Mount Mercy ultimately captured the men's championship with a 2-1 win over Baker in the final.
Overall, Missouri Baptist combined for six match victories across both brackets, with the women advancing to the championship round and the men reaching the final four, highlighting a strong showing for the Spartans in conference postseason competition.
The Spartans wait until next Monday March 2, at 1p.m. CST to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships in Lansing, Mich. on March 19-21, 2026.
Next up both teams will compete in the USBC ISC-ITC Sectionals in Fort Worth, Texas from March 6-8, 2026.
