FORT WAYNE, IND. – The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team fell early, dropping a 28-10 decision to Indiana Tech University on Friday afternoon.
John Dahl led Missouri Baptist with six goals on nine shots on goal, adding four ground balls in the loss. Joe Busselman contributed one goal and two assists, while Jake Cordes added two goals and an assist. Ryan Metcalf chipped in two assists for the Spartans.
Indiana Tech built a commanding lead in the opening quarter, scoring 10 goals in the first period and taking a 17-4 advantage into halftime. The Spartans found more rhythm offensively in the third quarter with five goals, including a pair from Cordes and two more from Dahl, but the Warriors answered throughout the contest to keep control.
Missouri Baptist finished with 34 shots and won 29 of 42 faceoffs, led by Anthony Fillerup's 24-for-35 effort at the X. Daniel Heinrich made nine saves in goal for the Spartans. Indiana Tech was paced by Kinley Hynote, who tallied seven goals and six assists.
The Spartans recorded 39 ground balls but were hurt by 44 turnovers as the Warriors capitalized on extra possessions.
Missouri Baptist continues the road, heading to Taylor University on Saturday. Faceoff is set for noon.
