CREVE COEUR, MO. – The Missouri Baptist University women's lacrosse team continues undefeated with a dominant 20-2 road win over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Friday afternoon.
Junior Delaney Pechnik led the Spartans with four goals and two assists while controlling six draws, pacing an offense that featured eight different goal scorers. Alexis Taylor and Skyler Morrissey each added four goals, while Sophia Rose finished with two goals and two assists.
MBU took control early, scoring seven times in the first quarter and building a 13-1 halftime lead. The Spartans outshot UHSP 33-9 and dominated draw controls 15-7, creating consistent scoring chances throughout the contest.
Taylor and Morrissey helped fuel the first-half surge, combining for five goals before the break, while Pechnik recorded two scores in the third quarter to extend the lead. Missouri Baptist also capitalized on special teams, converting multiple man-up opportunities, including goals from Grace Gumper and JaíHyghness Ward.
Defensively, the Spartans limited UHSP to just five shots on goal. Goalkeepers Rachel Livak and Octavia Bookman combined for four saves in the win.
Missouri Baptist will look to keep its undefeated start going when the Spartans return to action next week. They hit the road to take on Marian University on Thursday, March 5. Face off is set for 4 p.m. CST.
