FULTON, MO. — Missouri Baptist University women's basketball built an early double-digit lead and never looked back Tuesday night, pulling away for a 68–50 win over William Woods University.
Jenna Plymale led Missouri Baptist with 14 points and eight rebounds, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor. Riley Jansen added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Madisyn Doran chipped in 10 points as the Spartans placed five players in double figures.
Missouri Baptist set the tone early, opening the game on a 22–12 first-quarter run and holding William Woods to just 18 points in the first half. The Spartans shot better than 56 percent in the opening quarter and took a 39–18 lead into halftime.
William Woods found some offensive rhythm in the third quarter, cutting into the deficit behind outside shooting, but Missouri Baptist responded with steady scoring inside and timely perimeter baskets to keep control. The Spartans pushed the lead back to as many as 26 in the fourth quarter and finished with a 43–39 rebounding edge and a 42–16 advantage in points in the paint.
Missouri Baptist shot 43.1 percent from the field for the game and forced 16 turnovers, converting them into 19 points.
Missouri Baptist (8–13, 6–8 in conference) returns to conference play on Saturday at home against Baker University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
