MARSHALL, MO – Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball lost 3-0 to Missouri Valley University Tuesday, March 10, after three hard-fought sets in Marshall, Mo.
Luka Stepanovic led MBU with a hitting percentage of .368, and setter
Axel Griguer dished out 29 assists. For the Vikings, Joao Tavares led with a 0.778 hitting percentage, and Luca Hasse led with 19 kills.
Set One
The Spartans started strong with an attack from middle blocker
Johnathan Kreke, posting the first points of the game. Closely after, the Vikings went on a six-point run, and the Spartans fell behind. Unable to catch back up, the Spartans lost the first set 25-14.
Set Two
Set two started with Axel Griguer subbing in at setter in an attempt to create a spark. The freshman from Antibes, France, notched 13 assists in the frame, but MVC pulled through at 25-22 behind a trio of aces.
Set Three
The Vikings completed the sweep in the third set, losing 25-21. Kreke posted two blocks, Justin McGary had five kills, and Stepanovic had three kills as the Spartans hit .429. MVC, however, tallied 15 kills on 21 attempts with four errors (.524) to finish the job.
