ST. LOUIS — Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis split a pair of matches against Indiana Wesleyan on Friday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
The Spartan men improved to 8–1 on the season with a 6–1 victory over the Wildcats, while the Missouri Baptist women fell 6–1.
On the men's side, Missouri Baptist secured the doubles point by winning two of the three courts. Ruslan Anurev and Strahinja Radanovic earned a 6–3 victory over Timo Fischer and Valentino Trento at No. 2 doubles, while Nicolas Sanchez and Samuel Sanchez added a dominant 6–1 win against Isaiah Hostetler and Carter Poquette at No. 3.
The Spartans carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches to secure the team victory. Radanovic rolled to a 6–2, 6–1 win at No. 2 singles, while Arkhip Tokmakov followed with a 6–1, 6–4 victory at No. 3. Ruslan Anurev added a 7–5, 6–2 triumph at No. 4, Samuel Sanchez earned a 7–5, 6–0 win at No. 5, and Nicolas Sanchez completed the singles sweep with a 6–2, 6–2 victory at No. 6.
Indiana Wesleyan picked up its lone point with a three-set victory at No. 1 singles.
In the women's match, Indiana Wesleyan claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Jocelynn Carmody and Bissola Lassissi recorded Missouri Baptist's only doubles victory with a 6–3 win at No. 3.
The Wildcats carried the momentum into singles play, winning five of the six courts to secure the team win. Yvonne Shannon provided the Spartans' lone point of the match with a 6–3, 7–5 victory at No. 2 singles.
Indiana Wesleyan earned victories at the remaining singles positions to complete the 6–1 result.
