NEW ORLEANS, La. — Missouri Baptist University men's and women's tennis faced a pair of ranked opponents on Thursday at the XULA Tennis Center, falling to No. 9 Xavier (La.) on the men's side and No. 6 Xavier (La.) in women's action.

The Spartan men drop to 10–2 on the season with a 6–1 loss, while the Missouri Baptist women fall to 5–7 overall following a 5–2 defeat.

On the men's side, Xavier, known as the Gold Rush, claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three courts. Luca Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns fell 6–3 at No. 1 doubles, while Omar Farahat and Arkhip Tokmakov were also defeated 6–3 at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Ruslan Anurev and Strahinja Radanovic went unfinished.

In singles play, the Gold Rush secured five of the six matches to clinch the team victory. Ruslan Anurev earned Missouri Baptist's lone point with a 6–4, 6–3 win at No. 4 singles. Ebenriter pushed his match to a second-set tiebreak at No. 1, while Radanovic battled to three sets at No. 3 before falling.

On the women's side, Xavier, known as the Gold Nuggets, took control early by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Melissa Jangarasheva and Yvonne Shannon fell 6–2 at the top spot, while Mariana Azevedo and Lucia Rubio dropped a 6–1 decision at No. 2. The No. 3 match was left unfinished.

The Spartans picked up two singles victories despite the loss. Lucia Rubio delivered a hard-fought three-set win at No. 4, rallying for a 7–6, 3–6, 10–6 victory, while Natalie Haug added a straight-set 7–5, 6–3 win at No. 6.

Xavier secured the remaining singles matches in straight sets to seal the 5–2 result.
