Spartans End Regular Season with Road Sweep at Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. – Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball swept Culver-Stockton College (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) on Tuesday in the final game of the season.

The Spartans came out strong, with key offensive plays from AJ Tufuga, who had 11 kills on 17 attempts, leading to MBU's highest hitting percentage of .529. Service Aces were led by Isaac Allgeyer with three. Allgeyer shared the most blocks with Gabe Counts, with each having two. Setter Axel Griguer dished out 35 assists over the weekend, and libero Cruse Aea held down the defense end with nine digs.

The match started close, with back-and-forth rallies, with Culver first taking the lead 7-4. MBU dug itself out of this and back into the lead, with motivation sparked by two kills from middle blocker AJ Tufuga. Culver-Stockton proceeded to fight back and take the lead before Coach Tom Young called a timeout. Isaac Allgeyer finished off three kills in a row, all set up by Axel Griguer, to tie the game (19-19). The Spartans continued this attack and won the set 25-21.

The Spartans took control in the middle of the second set, taking a 15-12 lead and not letting it slip. Allgeyer proceeded to lead the team with two service aces, five kills, and two blocks.

MBU secured the first point of the set from a kill from Griguer, with the play made by Aea. The Spartans went on to gain four points in a row right away to set the standard of the set. Tufuga and Nikos Faoutas led the attack with five kills each. Defensively, Aea held down the court for the Spartans with nine digs.

The Spartans end the 2026 campaign with a 16-13 overall record and 9-10 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
