UPLAND, Ind. - Missouri Baptist University women's soccer dropped their 2026 season opener to No. 14 Taylor University by score of 5-0.
The Spartans were faced with a fierce amount of pressure from the Trojan attack early in the match. Two Taylor goals in the 10th and 13th minutes established a lead that would prove insurmountable for MBU.
Missouri Baptist forward Lillian Coleman and defender Kyla Munoz were each able to get a shot off in the first half, but neither converted.
Three more goals for TU, one in the first and two in the second, rounded out the scoring. Lauryn Dolvin was responsible for two goals and an assist for the Trojans.
In goal for all 90, Jordyn Maryas was able to tally four saves for MBU.
"We played a very good team with quality all over the field," Head Coach Deno Merrick said about the match. "We got caught in moments that good teams take advantage of, and they did so. For us, this is a learning opportunity and one we will grow from. We had several freshmen who stepped up and some returners who showed the leadership we needed. We will continue to build and get better."
Missouri Baptist women's soccer returns to St. Louis for their home opener against Ottawa University on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
