ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's soccer dropped its final non-conference contest against Brescia University by score of 2-0.
The Spartans' attack has been ramping to begin the 2026 season, as highlighted today by a shot attempt in just the second minute by Addisyn Sopczak. On the other hand, Brescia was relentless in their attack, responding with a pair of free kick shots around the 11th minute. The second attempt from Maria Ferreira had enough height to sneak into the goal for the Bearcats' first score.
MBU would look to retaliate quickly, forcing their way into Brescia territory. A Spartan pass from the left side crossed ideally to a patiently waiting Sopczak, who went with the head towards the net. The shot was just high, nailing the crossbar and rebounding back into the chest of Kate Jose. The forward used her body in an attempt to score on the second effort, but an excellent hustle play by the Bearcat keeper held Missouri Baptist off the scoreboard.
Despite tallying nine shot attempts on the night, the Spartans would be unsuccessful in scoring for a second time this season. Brescia would walk away with another score in the second half, cementing the score at 2-0.
