MARION, Iowa. — Saturday, Sept. 12, the Missouri Baptist University golf program traveled to Hunters Ridge Golf Course to compete in the Mustang Fall Championship, hosted by Mount Mercy University. Led by head coach Michael Wyatt, the Spartan men placed eighth of nine teams, while the women finished seventh of eight. 

Men's Golf
After two rounds of play, the MBU men ended the weekend with a team score of 37-over par. Jay Choi, a sophomore transfer from William Jewell College, led the Spartans individually, tying for eighth. After an even first round, Choi finished at 4-over par and led the field with 26 pars. 

Will Dugal, a returning senior, tied for 25th at 11-over par, and sophomore William Bomkamp placed 34th at 13-over par, leading all players in par-3 scoring (2.88). 

Maximiliano Montenegro, a junior transfer from Crowder College, and freshman Braden Wright made their Spartan debuts. Montenegro tied for 35th place at 14-over par, while Wright shared 37th at 15-over par. 

As a team, the Spartans recorded 104 pars, tying for third in the field, along with 20 birdies. MBU ranked fifth in par-4 scoring at 4.24 and second in par-3 scoring at 3.27.

Women's Golf
The women's team finished in seventh place of eight teams with a two-round score of 199-over par. Priscila Rodriguez, a returning junior, led the Spartans with a 12th-place finish at 26-over par. She also ranked second in par-3 scoring at 3.13 and third in Par 5s (5.28).

Senior Elena Montalban tied for 21st at 40-over par, shooting 22 and 18 in each round. 

Both teams return to action Monday, Sept. 21, in Booneville, Missouri, for the Central Methodist University Fall Invite at Hail Ridge Golf Club.
