OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - MBU Football's Josiah Dye was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his all-around performance in the Spartans' first victory of 2026 against Peru State College.

The redshirt sophomore was a force in the secondary, leading the defensive unit with seven total tackles, three of which were solo. The hard-hitting defensive back was punishing Bobcat players all night, forcing a fumble and assisting on a tackle for loss along the way.

Despite the meaningful contributions throughout the contest, Dye's shining moment came late in the evening. Up 21-14 with under two minutes to play, the Gilbert, Arizona native intercepted a pass from the Bobcats quarterback, allowing Missouri Baptist to run the clock out and win the game.

Dye and the rest of Missouri Baptist Football are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19th in Oskaloosa, Iowa to take on #13 William Penn.
