Kelly Howell was announced as the fourth Missouri Baptist University Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach in program history in June 2024.
In Howell's first season with MBU, he was able to bring the Spartans to a 7-8 record with an impressive 6-3 for the conference.
Howell comes to MBU with over 16 years of experience, most recently as the Offensive Coordinator at NCAA Division II school Adams State University. In his two years with the Grizzlies, his primary duties included recruiting, formulating practice plans, and designing offensive and defensive schemes.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Kelly into the fold of what we are doing here at Missouri Baptist,” said MBU Director of Athletics Jeff Fore. “He comes in with proven, high-level lacrosse experience, and a track record for developing high-level student-athletes.”
Before Adams State, Howell was the head coach at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., organizing and implementing all facets of the men’s lacrosse program for two seasons. He helped lead the Lumberjacks to a 15-9 overall record from 2022-23, including a 9-4 record and a 4-0 division record in his final campaign.
Howell was additionally the offensive coordinator for the Perry Pumas and Arizona Hot Sauce club teams for eight seasons and the Arizona Lacrosse League Vice Commissioner.
“I am very excited to be here to help our men's lacrosse team achieve heights and goals they have never achieved before,” said Howell. “The vision and plan that Jeff and Missouri Baptist University have will grow these players into great men and give them an incredible experience. I am privileged to be able to help guide and build this vision and be of service to these young men in their journey here at MBU.”
A native of New Orleans, La., Howell holds an associate degree from Scottsdale Community College in Arizona and is a 2006 graduate of Bryman College in Phoenix, Ariz. with a degree in Medical Radiography.
