Johnson is in his first season of coaching at Missouri Baptist University.
Before MBU, Johnson spent time as both a player and a high school coach. His coaching career started during his senior year of high school when he coached the NW Cat Attack 15s of the St. Louis High Performance club league to a regional championship. In 2018-19 he made the switch to boy's volleyball, becoming an assistant coach on the B14 Orange in the same league. In addition to his position here, Johnson currently coaches the Boy's 13 Royal and Boy's 18 Blue at St. Louis High Performance.Â
Johnson's playing career consisted of club, high school, and collegiate volleyball. At Northwest High School, Johnson was a four-year letter winner and the team captain during his whole high school career. He also played in the St. Louis High Performance league from age 13-17. After high school, Johnson went on to play two seasons at Greenville University where he was the team captain and a defensive specialist. The transition from player to coach was completed after spending the summer of 2016 training with the Dominican National team.Â
