Iris Dixon began her term as the head coach of Spartans' women's basketball in 2011 and has been a part of the Missouri Baptist University basketball family since 2000.

In March of 2018, Dixon stepped down from her role as Head Women's Basketball Coach for a new position as Associate AD and Senior Women's Administrator. In her new role, Dixon will primarily focus on the administrative side of Athletics, specifically, academic and competitive compliance issues. She will also be looking for ways to enhance and grow programs that provide more opportunities for female student-athletes.

Before being named Women's Basketball Head Coach, Dixon spent the previous eight seasons at MBU as the head assistant coach. Dixon's responsibilities included working with the guards, assisting with the coordination of recruiting efforts, overseeing athlete academic progress, travel preparation, budgeting, community service, off-season and summer skill development, and conditioning among other duties.

While working with the Spartans, Dixon has been instrumental in helping to develop two NAIA All-Americans, several Academic All-Conference recipients, Academic All-Americans, and several NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Coach Dixon began her career at MBU as a graduate assistant coach while pursuing her M.S. Ed Degree in Kinesiology. After completing her Master's degree, Dixon was promoted to the position of assistant coach in 2002.

Through her continued dedication and commitment to the athletic department Dixon was promoted to Director of Student Athlete Services in 2008. In this newly created position, Coach Dixon developed compliance and eligibility policies and procedures for the University. In addition to her coaching duties, in 2010, Coach Dixon was named Assistant Director of Athletics over Compliance. She also serves as a member of the Health & Sport Sciences Division faculty.

Prior to MBU, Coach Dixon served in the United States Armed Forces in the Army where she was a member of the 434th Field Artillary Brigade, in the 95th AG Battalion stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Iris received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Northwestern State University where she was also a member of the women's basketball team. Dixon, a shooting guard, helped to guide the Lady Demons to a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Dixon is a native of Natchitoches, La. and a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School.
