The MBU men's soccer team concluded the 2009 regular season with a 4-1 loss to AMC rival Hannibal-LaGrange College on Wednesday.
The Spartans did get a win earlier in the week, beating non-conference opponent Brescia University 1-0 on Monday. Junior
Nyron Orr (Trinidad & Tobago) scored for MBU, with the assist coming from sophomore
Naser Mustafic (St. Louis/Mehlville HS). Junior goalkeeper
Ger Coppinger (Ireland) earned the shutout.
In Wednesday's game against Hannibal-LaGrange, junior
Ian Henry (Ireland) found the back of the net at 58:16, with the assist from sophomore
Karl Russell (Ireland). That goal set the score at 2-1. However, that would prove to be the Spartans' only goal, as the Trojans went on to score two more, to take the game 4-1.
With the loss, the Spartans finish in last place in the American Midwest Conference regular season with an 0-7 mark. They carry a 6-11 record into the AMC Post-Season, which begins Saturday, November 7.
