The MBU men's basketball team rose back above the .500 mark with two American Midwest Conference victories last week. The Spartans earned a road win over Columbia College on Thursday, and beat Williams Baptist College at home on Saturday.The Spartans picked up their first AMC win on Thursday, with a 78-71 win at Columbia College (7-14, 1-4). Five Spartans scored in double digits.
Kyle Hubbard led the offensive charge with 22 points.
Brandon Roberson added 14,
Jordan Flora and
Brice Scott had 11 each, and
P.J. Smith finished with 10 points. MBU was fueled by the long shot, connecting on 10-of-21 from behind the arc.
Kyle Hubbard led the Spartans again on Saturday, in a 91-78 home win over Williams Baptist College (10-11, 3-3). Hubbard scored 18 points, followed by Roberson and
Rondu Stevens with 17 points each, Flora had 15 points, and Smith scored 11. With the win, the Spartans are now 10-9 overall and 2-2 in the AMC.
The Spartans have a full week of play this week, as they begin with a trip to Park University in Kansas City on Tuesday for a make-up game. They then play William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. on Thursday and return home to face Hannibal-LaGrange College on Saturday.
