The MBU men's basketball team split in its final week of AMC regular season play last week, and will take a third place seed into the American Midwest Conference Tournament this week.
The Spartans narrowly escaped with an 82-81 victory over William Woods University at home on Thursday. They followed that win with their second loss of the season to Hannibal-LaGrange College on Saturday. The Spartans were edged 76-72 on the road.
With a 7-7 record, Missouri Baptist finishes the AMC Regular Season in sole possession of third place. They will host Harris-Stowe State University in the Quarterfinal Round of the AMC Tournament on Thursday, March 4. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. The two teams split in regular season play, with MBU taking the last victory. HSSU earned the #6 seed, but finished tied for fourth in the AMC with Hannibal-LaGrange College and Columbia College, each with a 6-8 mark.
The McKendree University Bearcats won the AMC Regular Season Title for the second consecutive year, with their only loss in AMC play coming to MBU. Park University finished in second. Rounding out the bottom two seeds are Williams Baptist College and William Woods University, tied for eighth with a 3-11 record. WBC earns the #8 seed.
