The MBU men's volleyball team has concluded its regular season of play with a win streak of 14. The Spartans will take a 21-9 overall record and 8-4 MAMVIC West record into conference tournament play next weekend.
Missouri Baptist concluded its regular season with a home conference series against Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) The Spartans won Friday's and Saturday's matches in convincing fashion. MBU won the Friday match 30-22, 30-21, 30-32, 30-20. They dominated Saturday's Senior Night match 30-18, 30-28, 30-28. Before the match, seniors
Matt Mahoney,
Jared Chapa,
Josh Haegele, and
Chris Frey were honored for their contributions to the men's volleyball program.
With three MAMVIC West wins in the past week, the Spartans secured a second place regular season finish in the MAMVIC West. Park University takes the top spot with an 11-1 conference record.Â
The Spartans should compete strongly for the MAMVIC West Tournament title. MBU's four regular season conference losses occurred when senior right side hitter and kills leader
Matt Mahoney was out due to injury. With Mahoney's return, the Spartans have not lost a match and have beaten conference champion Park twice. The MAMVIC West Tournament will be hosted by Johnson & Wales University in Denver, Colorado April 9-10.
