ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist University men's volleyball team returns to action for a weekend at home against Graceland University at 7 p.m.
Friday's match will also serve as a celebration for Missouri Baptist's seniors — AJ Tufuga, Alex Seyer, Gabe Counts, Reagan Froemsdorf, Josh Kaemmerer, Johnathan Kreke, and Kory Kretzer.
Middle blocker Tufuga has accumulated 185 kills over his two seasons at MBU. Defensively, he has added 82.0 blocks, 22 of them being solo. Seyer last season anchored the defense as libero with a team-high 289 digs (2.60 digs per set). Seyer also broke the season dig record last season. This season, he has tallied 40 digs and four aces.
Counts has appeared in two games this season, earning four kills. Libero Froemsdorf has added seven digs in his two years here. He has appeared in 18 matches and also added seven serving aces.
Setter, Kaemmerer has earned 848 assists over his four years at Missouri Baptist. He has also added 27 kills, 22 serving aces, 107 digs, and 34.0 total blocks. Middle blocker Kreke is currently averaging 1.44 kills per set, totaling 227 kills over his career at MBU. He continues to be an asset at the net with 120.0 total blocks, 26 of them solo blocks. Kretzer appeared in the match last week against Avila University. He added one kill, which was the set point for set two.
Opponent Breakdown
On Friday, the Spartans are scheduled to host Graceland on Friday. Graceland is currently 14th in conference standings and has a record of 1-15. Elijah Kline leads in kills per set with two, while defensively Benjamin Gorton-Hülgerth leads digs per set with 1.8. The Spartans last saw the Yellowjackets on April 4 of last year and won that game in a sweep. Since 2006, MBU and Graceland have played 29 times, with MBU winning 23.
