Nine Spartans Recognized in Senior Night Victory over Yellowjackets

ST.LOUIS, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball team dominated in their final home match of the season with a 3-0 sweep over the Graceland University Yellowjackets (Iowa) on Friday night. As with tradition for the final home match, MBU celebrated nine seniors who played their final match in the SRC.

AJ Tufuga, Alex Seyer, Gabe Counts, Reagan Froemsdorf, Grant Willis, Cruse Aea, Josh Kaemmerer, Kory Kretzer, and Johnathan Kreke were all recognized for their contribution to the program. 

To start the match, all the seniors on the varsity roster started, and, with their continued dominance, stayed in for the entire match. 

Missouri Baptist (15-13, 7-10) hit .400 as a team with 38 kills and just eight errors, while limiting Graceland (2-25, 1-15) to a .129 hitting percentage on the night. 

The Spartans set the tone early in the first set as they recorded 11 kills on a .333 hitting percentage while holding Graceland to nine kills and a .000 clip, to secure a 25-16 set victory. 

Missouri Baptist University showed the most dominance in set two, where the Spartans hit .571 with 13 kills and just one error, pulling away for a 25-14 victory while limiting Graceland to a .080 hitting percentage. 

In the third set, Graceland mounted its strongest offensive effort, hitting .370 with 13 kills, but the Spartans responded with 14 kills of their own to close out a 25-23 win and complete the sweep. 

Tufuga led Missouri Baptist with 10 kills and four blocks for a team-high 13.5 points, while Kreke added nine kills on a .692 hitting percentage.Counts contributed seven kills without an error, hitting .700. 

Setter Kaemmerer paced the Spartans' offense with 30 assists and added seven digs, while Froemsdorf anchored Missouri Baptist University defensively with a match-high 10 digs.

The Spartans close out their season against Culver-Stockton College (Mo.) in Canton, Mo. next Tuesday night, April 7, at 7 p.m.
