Hannibal, Mo.- After a tough loss to William Woods University the Missouri Baptist men's soccer team wanted to get their offense going while trying to get their second win on the season. However, Hannibal-LaGrange got two goals in the first and five in the second half to shutout MBU 7-0.
The Spartans were playing good defense throughout the first half, although the offense continued to struggle. Hannibal-Lagrange got on the board in the 35th minute to make it 1-0 on a goal by Joao Junqueria. Then, in the 44th minute the Trojans made it 2-0 on a goal by Thiago Pereira who was able to beat MBU's goalie
Ethan Brunk. Missouri Baptist was outshot in the first half 9-1.
In the second half, the scoring continued for the Trojans as in the 66th minute Alejandro Porras made it 3-0. Hannibal-Lagrange went on to add four more goals in 12 minutes to make it a final 7-0. Joao Junqueria and Javier Aguado each had two goals in the game.
Missouri Baptist was outshot in the game 24-5.
Ethan Brunk made seven saves while
Tyler Kuehner led the team in shots with three.
The teams record falls to 1-11-1 and will look to get a strong road victory when they head to McKendree University on October 20th at 7:30 p.m
