Springfield, Ill.- The Missouri Baptist men's soccer team headed on the road to Benedictine looking to grab a conference road win. A goal in the 7th minute turned out to be the game winner as the Spartans shutout the Bulldogs 2-0.
The Spartans knew that in order to get a road win they had to score early to gain momentum. MBU's
Oscar Rojas was able to do just that as he scored in the 7th minute to make it 1-0. Missouri Baptist kept its offensive pressure up the rest of the half as they outshot the Bulldogs 11-2.
In the second half, the team continued its strong defensive play keeping the Bulldogs from ever getting a scoring chance. The Spartans added on to their lead on a goal by
Danny Traylor in the 71st minute to make it a final 2-0.
Missouri Baptist outshot the Bulldogs 20-5 in the game.
Ethan Brunk made two saves and recorded his first shutout on the season.
The team will look to grab another road conference win when they head to Williams Baptist College on October 29th at 2:00 p.m.
