SPARTANS MEN'S SOCCER LOSE TOUGH GAME TO WILLIAMS BAPTIST

Walnut Ridge, Ar.- After beating Benedictine College in their previous game the Missouri Baptist men's soccer team wanted to continue their winning ways. The team had a 3-2 lead in the second half, however Williams Baptist tied the game and scored the game winner in double overtime with the final being 4-3. 
 
The team wanted to continue its strong offensive play going against the Eagles on the road. Williams Baptist got the first goal of a busy offensive day in the third minute scored by Lucas Braga to make it 1-0. The Spartans were able to answer quickly with Gavin Cuddy tying the score up 1-1 with a goal in the eighth minute. 
 
Both teams continued to go back and forth with scoring chances until Missouri Baptist grabbed the lead in the 22nd minute on a goal by Danny Traylor. In the 33rd minute the team extended its lead to 3-1 on a goal by Danny Traylor. The Eagles were able to get back into the game on a goal by Cody Mathews to make it 3-2 at half. 
 
In the second half the Spartans were wanting to extend their lead even further. After strong defensive play throughout the half and both teams having plenty of scoring chances Williams Baptist was able to breakthrough. WBU tied the game in the 82nd minute on a goal by Lucas Camargo to send game into overtime. 
 
Neither team was able to score in the first overtime with Williams Baptist having the most scoring chances with four. In the second overtime Esteban Piccinni scored the game winner in the 107th minute to make it a final 4-3.
 
Both teams had 25 shots on goal. MBU's goalie Ethan Brunk made eight saves in the game. 
 
The Spartans will look to get a win in front of the home crowd on October 31st at 7:00 p.m. against Lindenwood University.
