SPARTANS WOMEN'S SOCCER EARN BACK TO BACK WINS

Fenton, Mo.- After beating Harris-Stowe the Spartans women's soccer team were looking for their second win in two days. After no scoring in the first half, two goals in the second half lead the team to a 2-1 victory over William Woods University.

The team was looking to start the game fast and get on the scoreboard early. Both teams in the first half had plenty of chances but neither were able to score. William Woods outshot the Spartans 13-9.

The scoring happened in the second half with William Woods getting on the board first in the 53rd minute on a goal by Anna Hatfield to make it 1-0. The Spartans were able to answer when William Woods goalie Kelly Abernathy kicked the ball right to MBU's Courtney Young and she was able to capitalize on the mistake making it 1-1.

The scoring chances continued until in the 80th minute Courtney Young was fouled inside the box. The referee called a foul and Missouri Baptist was awarded a penalty kick. Courtney Young placed the ball perfectly in the bottom right hand corner of the goal to make it a final 2-1. MBU's goalie Samantha Schulze made nine saves on the day.

The Spartans record moves to 4-7, more importantly their conference record is now 3-1 and will look to add another conference win when they head to Hannibal-LaGrange University on October 12th at 3:00 p.m
