SPARTANS SHINE IN WIN OVER VIKINGS

Winona Lake, Ind. - Missouri Baptist University men's basketball had four players finish in double figures as the team went on to a 66-51 victory over Missouri Valley College.

The Spartans came into Saturday's game looking to pick-up its first victory in the Grace College Tournament after being handed a loss to Embry Riddle on Friday. MBU's Sam Pearson put up 25 points to lead his team to victory. The transfer from Southeast Missouri State was fantastic and showed some of the offensive spark that Missouri Baptist can display.

Dezmon Hickman was also great for the Spartans. Hickman dropped 17 points and came one rebound short of getting his second double-double of the season. Missouri Baptist spent much of the first half battling for the lead, but at around the four-minute mark, the tide turned for MBU.

The Spartans built a nine-point lead in a matter of minutes and ended the first half with a 28-19 lead. The second half was more of the same as MBU looked like a team on a mission. Missouri Valley only managed one player, David Yadrich, to break into double figures. Yadrich finished with 11 points.

Missouri Baptist shot 45% from the floor in the second half to go along with shooting 74% from the free throw line. With the win, Missouri Baptist improved to 2-3 on the season.
