Springfield, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist men's basketball team closed the gap to as much as six, but could not manage to keep up with the 19th ranked team in the nation, losing 83-70.
It was a struggle for the Spartans as the team was in a double-digit hole at the half. The Spartans made a surge after the intermission and looked to have fixed its issues. However, Evangel did not falter.
Though the Crusaders played well down the stretch, they gave the Spartans a chance at the end. Missouri Baptist was sent to the free throw line with six shots in the closing minutes, but only managed to hit one.
The Spartans will be back at it on Friday evening when the team travels to Des Moines, Iowa to face the AIB College of Business Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
