Atchison, Kan. - Benedictine College shot nearly 45% from the floor on Tuesday evening and beat Missouri Baptist 78-68 in overtime.
After a close contest throughout regulation, the Benedictine Ravens were able to pull away in the extra frame, outscoring the Spartans 12-2 to take the victory.
Missouri Baptist, led by the stellar play of Dezmon Hickman and Garrison Plummer, kept it close for the majority of the game. The two both finished the game with a double-double and led the team at both ends of the court.
The Spartans were down by two going into half time. After the half, Missouri Baptist was down in the latter stages of the game, but was able to pull even in the final seconds to force overtime.
As a team, MBU shot 40% from the floor and finished just shy of 60% from the foul stripe. Kalvin Lewis also turned in a strong offensive performance, netting 18 points in the loss.
The Spartans will head into the holiday break with a record of 3-5. The team will return home on Tuesday, Nov. 29th to face Fontbonne University.
