Davenport, Iowa - The Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball are proving why the NAIA ranked them in the preseason top 25 poll by rattling off four victories to open the 2011 season.

The most recent victories came on Saturday morning against Georgetown College and Ashford University. 

In the first match, the Spartans dropped the first set, but had another exciting finish. For the second time in three matches, the contest was decided in the fifth and decisive set.

Missouri Baptist's Casey Chernin let the attack, ending the match with 12 kills, three aces and three blocks. Lauren Stuckel also came up big for the Spartan offense, recording 32 assists. On defense, Tracey Abell had another great game, notching 30 digs for the match.

In game two, MBU faced Ashford University, which provided the most exciting set of the weekend. In the first set, both teams played nearly equal. After a back an forth game, the Spartans pulled out a thrilling 27-25 win to take the first game.

From there on, it was all Spartans. MBU went on to win the next two games in convincing fashion 25-20 and 25-19. Lucy Ford led the offense with 10 kills, while Abell was impressive yet again, recording 18 digs for the match.
The Spartans' Casey Chernin, Lucy Ford and Megan Moore were all on top of their game ovet the weekend and were named to the All-Tournament Team. Missouri Baptist led the pack with the most players named as All-Tournament selections with three.

MBU is now 4-0 on the season and will try to make it five in a row over the Labor Day weekend in the Columbia College Tournament.
