Joliet, Ill.- The St. Francis Fighting Saints took a second-half lead over the Missouri Baptist spartans and never looked back, going on to a 3-2 victory.
The Missouri Baptist Spartans traveled to Joliet Ill., looking to keep last game's momentum going and get their first victory on the season. The team looked to draw first blood against the Fighting Saints, but was handed an early deficit. In the 21st minute Michael Kowal got St. Francis on the board, beating MBU's goalie
Ethan Brunk to make it 1-0. In the 37th minute, the Spartans evened the score 1-1 on a goal by
Dylan Penrod.
In the second half, MBU grabbed an lead early. In the 55th minute, just ten minutes after the start of the second half,
Devin Perry put the Spartans up 2-1 beating St. Francis goalie Juan Santoliva.
The lead, however, was short-lived. Five minutes later St. Francis tied the game at 2-2 on a goal by Michael Kowal, his second of the evening. The teams went back and forth with scoring chances, until in the 87th minute the Fighting Saints got a penalty kick. Victor Trujillo beat Spartans goalie

The Spartans will look to keep their strong play going in front of the home crowd against Dordt College on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
