Chesterfield, Mo.- The men's soccer team was looking to end their game the same way the women's team did, with a win. After tying the game in the second half the team fell short to a late goal by Dordt College losing 2-1.
The team came out with alot of energy trying to get on the board early. Dordt had other plans as they scored first in the 13th minute on a goal by Scott Van Wylen to make it 1-0. Even though MBU was down 1-0 they outshot the Defenders 10-8 in the first half.
In the second half, the Spartans cashed in with a early goal of their own. In the 50th minute
Joseph Whitacre added a tip in goal tying the game 1-1.
Both teams had plenty of chances throughout the game. The crowd was very anxious to see which team was going to put the ball in the net after all the chances. It was Dordt's Scott Van Wylen adding his second of the day in the 86th minute beating MBU's goalie
Ethan Brunk as it proved to be the game winner.
The Spartans outshot the Defenders in the game 22-17 with many of those chances just missing the goal in the last 10 minutes of the game.
Ethan Brunk was able to make five saves for the team.
The team's record falls to 0-6-1 on the year. They will look to get their first victory in front of the home crowd when they host Columbia College on September 20th at 7:00 p.m.
