Chesterfield, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist men's soccer team was looking to get on the right track this season and in conference play trying to get a win. A late goal in the 78th minute for Columbia College keeps the team winless on the season.
The game was very fast paced as both teams wanted to get on the scoreboard early. The Spartans had some good chances in the first half along with stellar defense keeping the Cougars from scoring. At the end of the first half their was no score as Columbia outshot MBU 6-5.
The battle continued between both teams until late in the second half . The best scoring chance for the Spartans came in the 70th minute when
Ren Herzog just missed a goal on a spin around shot that went wide. In the 78th minute, Dylan Barduzzi was able to find the back of the net for Columbia beating MBU's goalie
Ethan Brunk.
The Spartans were outshot in the game 15-13, eight of those shots came in the second half.
Ethan Brunk made two saves on the evening and
Oscar Rojas led the team in shots with six.
MBU's record falls to 0-7-1, on the year and will look to get their first victory on the road at Trinity International University on September 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
