SPARTANS WOMEN'S SOCCER FALL TO BEARCATS

Fenton, Mo.- The Missouri Baptist women's soccer team was looking for their third straight  victory as they hosted the McKendree Bearcats. The team was unable to overcome two first half goals by the Bearcats and ended up falling in the game 4-1.
 
The Spartans started the game with alot of energy. The team was beating the Bearcats to the ball and keeping their passes crisp to one another. McKendree was able to strike first, in the 36th minute when Natalie Crane took a shot that was tipped in by MBU's Chelsea Tetrault to put the Bearcats ahead 1-0 on a own goal. MKU was able to score again seven minutes later on a goal by Taryn Butler beating MBU's goalie Samantha Schulze to make it 2-0 at halftime.
 
Missouri Baptist kept fighting to get back into the game. In the 62nd minute they were able to when Alexis Baez scored outside the box to get the score to 2-1. That was all the scoring MBU could get as McKendree added two more goals.
 
Carlee Luehmann put the Bearcats up for good 3-1 with a goal in the 72nd minute.  Then, seven minutes later Natalie Crane added a goal of her own to make it a final 4-1. Spartans goalie Samantha Schulze made 14 saves on the day. Missouri Baptist was outshot by McKendree 33-12 in the game.
 
The team's record falls to 2-6 on the year, but will look to get back on the winning track when travel to play Park University on October 1st at 12:00 p.m
