St. Louis, Mo. - Missouri Baptist men's basketball shot an impressive 54% from three-point range, en route to a 94-84 win over Harris Stowe on Saturday evening.
The Spartans, who opened conference play on Thursday with a victory over Williams Baptist looked like a different team on Saturday. LeAndre Johnson led the team with 22 points in the victory. Johnson, who had spent much of the season injured, returned to the court on Thursday and showed why he had been so sorely missed against Harris Stowe. The senior from St. Louis poured-in 22 points and looked like an offensive star.
As Johnson went, so did the rest of the team. Kyle Ford and Kalvin Lewis both finished with 16 points while Garrison Plummer recorded 13 points and nine boards. "It was a very balanced-scoring game," said Missouri Baptist head coach Ray Farrell.
The Spartans entered the game ranked fifth in the NAIA in total offense, which is sure to rise again after the 94-point performance at Harris Stowe.
Missouri Baptist is now 11-8 and tied with Hannibal LaGrange for the top spot in the American Midwest Conference standings. The team will get a week of rest before heading to Columbia, Mo. next Saturday to face rival, Columbia College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
