COUGARS RETAIN TOP SPOT IN AMC WITH WIN OVER SPARTANS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Columbia College men's basketball had four players finish in double digits en-route to an 80-63 victory over Missouri Baptist on Saturday.

The Spartans entered the game looking to take over sole possession of first place in the American Midwest Conference, but were unable to stop the hot shooting of the Cougar's Jordan Dressler. The NCAA Division I transfer from University of Toledo went 8-15 from the floor and dropped 19 on Missouri Baptist to lead his team to a big conference win.

Missouri Baptist made small runs throughout the game, but fouls became an issue. The team committed 24 throughout the course of the game, giving the Cougars 22 opportunities from the foul stripe. Columbia went on to shoot 55% from the line in the game.

Leading the way for the Spartans was LeAndre Johnson. The guard collected 18 points and led the offense once again. After digging a seven-point hole in the first half, the Spartans came out with a quick bucket after the half. Columbia, however, turned on the pressure and continued to hit key shots down the stretch.

Missouri Baptist will be back in action on Thursday when it will travel to Hannibal LaGrange to face the Trojans. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
