St. Charles, Mo.- After a tough, yet well played match against #1 ranked St. Ambrose. The Spartans headed to Lindenwood looking for their first road win on the season. The Lions swept through Missouri Baptist winning 22-25, 16-25 and 15-25.
Missouri Baptist wanted to gain momentum right away, by taking the first set. The Spartans battled with the Lions and took a 16-15 lead. Lindenwood took a three point advantage, but MBU was able to even the score up at 22-22 after a Robert Esser service ace. However, the Lions closed out the first set 22-25.
The Spartans knew the second set was an important factor getting back into the match. Lindenwood took advantage early grabbing a 7-13. The Lions never looked back, winning 16-25, taking a two set advantage.
Missouri Baptist wanted to get back into the match, with a third set win. The Lions took control right from the start, taking down the Spartans 15-25.
The team was led by several players including Jonathan Roldan with 11 kills. Sam Platt also had a strong offensive game with eight kills and two aces. Robert Esser added 24 digs to along with five digs, tied for the team lead with Gustavo Cintron.
The teams' record falls to 3-2, but will look to stop their two game losing streak when they head to Grand View University on January 27th at 7:00 p.m
