SPARTANS LOSE TO BOBCATS IN OVERTIME

Point Lookout, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist men's basketball squad shot just 56% from the free throw line as the team went on to a 76-80 defeat at the hands of College of the Ozarks on Tuesday.

The Spartans came into the game looking to break a two-game losing streak, but came up just short. The team came out to a fast start in the first half, outscoring the Bobcats 39-32. The second half, however, was a different story.

Led by Mike and Weston Wiebe, the Bobcats came roaring back. The brothers combined for 46 points, while Weston finished with a double-double (22 points, 14 rebounds). Down the stretch, the Bobcats came all the way back to tie the game, overcoming the seven-point, first-half deficit.

The Spartans shot 42% from the floor and a phenomenal 43% from three-point range. Kyle Ford led the team in total points scored (14) and went 3-7 from behind the arc. Missouri Baptist has been one of the top scoring teams in the NAIA this season, but has struggled a bit of late. Overall, the team ranks 10th in Total Scoring Offense in the nation.

The team will get eight days rest before conference play opens up on Jan. 12 at Williams Baptist College.
