MBU COMEBACK COMPLETED IN OVERTIME

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After a frustrating, 12-point loss on Friday, Missouri Baptist men's basketball rebounded on Saturday with a hard-fought 78-73 overtime victory on Saturday afternoon.

Missouri Baptist (3-4) needed a victory to break even in the Grace College Classic and had to earn it in an early tip on Saturday. Huntington led at 38-31 at the half before Spartans began to climb-back into the game.

In the second half, MBU began a full-court press which put the tam back on track. The Spartans forced 11, second-half turnovers (23 on the day), which changed the momentum of the game. Down the stretch, Missouri Baptist Matt Holes hit a clutch shot with 31 seconds on the clock to tie the game at 61.

Then, with just 1.6 seconds left on the clock, the Spartans had a big defensive stop on an out of bounds play, essentially sending the game to overtime. As the game went into extra time, MBU took over. The team jumped out to a lead and managed to hold on to take the contest.

Missouri Baptist's Kalvin Lewis was fantastic the entire weekend. The junior from Houston, Texas was named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the game.

The Spartans will remain on the road this week for a showdown with future AMC member Mid-Continent University on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
